Basilia: waiting list or waiting for the list
On 29 June 2026, MCH Group and Informa Markets set the dates for Basilia, their new jewellery and watch fair: 8 to 11 April 2027, in Hall 2 of Messe Basel. Those four days fall in the middle of Watches and Wonders week, which will run in Geneva from 5 to 11 April and whose 75 exhibiting brands are already known. On 8 October, the organisers announced registrations at 70% of a target of more than 400 exhibitors. Around a quarter of those registered come from watchmaking: on that basis, some 70 watch exhibitors. Not one has been named. The eight exhibitors cited so far are all jewellers or precious-stone dealers, while more than 2,500 hotel rooms have already been blocked with Basel’s tourist office. Watches and Wonders keeps its first days for the trade and only opens to the public from Friday to Sunday, so a buyer or a journalist can do Geneva and then Basel, provided they know which watchmakers are waiting at the end of the journey. Basel, which Rolex, Patek Philippe, Chanel, Chopard and Tudor left for Geneva in April 2020, will have to say who is exhibiting before it can convince anyone to come.
